Canoe Tour

Canoe Journey in the mangrove forest

Today we will start at the lagoons which part of an old formation on the coastal dunes and the salt lagoon, here most of the water comes from the tides as well from the estuary and the water is a little bit saltier than the sea. The shallow water and the protection of the mangroves creates the best habitat for brine shrimp, the white shrimp, blue crabs, mollies, guppies, mosquito fish, and many other large and minute fish which becomes food for birds, mammals and reptiles.

Own our trip we could see the impressive flamingos, the pelicans, egrets, kingfishers, cormorants, herons, night herons, and many other birds that inhabit the mangrove forest. We would learn about the 4 species of mangroves out of the 6 species that inhabited Mexico.
